No case speaker in p180??

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

No case speaker in p180??

Post by walkman » Fri Jul 15, 2005 9:58 pm

Ok, I must admit, this is by far the nicest case I've ever used. I've never had a lian-li or silverstone, so maybe it nothing new -- but boy, is it nicer than all the regular cases I've had before.

But, there's no case speaker. Is that standard on high end cases?

The only time I guess I'd use it is during the boot process to indicate an error. But I missed it when I was building the computer and my asus a8n-sli premium board didn't like the memory configuration I wanted to use.

You're welcome. I have no idea why Antec omitted a case speaker, or why they didn't include that $1 speaker. In the volume they'll buy it at, it'll probably cost them 10 cents, if that much. I haven't bought many > $100 cases, but the couple others I have always came with speakers. There's even one cheap noname case I bought that came with that exact same $1 speaker.

Maybe it's because it's supposed to be a "silent" case :-)

What cases *have* a speaker?

Post by NeilBlanchard » Sun Jul 17, 2005 6:33 am

Hello:

For that matter -- what case has a speaker? I have not seen a speaker in any case I have used...granted, they include just Evercase and Antec! Of the recommended SPCR case -- do any of them have speakers?

FWIW my Lian Li came with a speaker. I think. At least something's beeping in there.

Don't most new motherboards come with speakers built-in? My Intel does.

*scratches head*

My Sonata has a speaker. My Centurion 5 has a speaker. I don't have any other cases on the recommended list. My Cooler Master HTPC desktop case has a speaker. My other Antec case, something so old I don't remember the model #, has a speaker.

My A8V doesn't have speaker on MB. I took a quick look at Asus MBs and don't notice any speakers on a couple of the recent ones.

Not on the couple that I've used. Where did you get yours from?

I don't remember. It was the cheapest store on froogle a month or two ago though. ;). It's a small speaker... are you sure you just didn't miss it? It's white and less than a square inch, on the inside front panel of the case.

EDIT: Purchased from 2buystore.com
