Using a Zalman FB-123 Bracket with the Antec P180

Post by jermaink » Wed Jul 27, 2005 1:41 am

Can this bracket me mounted (on the top 3 slots) so it can be able to cool the RAM slots with a 92 mm Nexus fan? I'm using a Thermalright XP-120 at the moment, so it looks like it will be a close fit.

But has anyone used a Zalman FB-123 on a Antec P180 for RAM cooling?

Shouldn't the XP-120 deliver enough airflow to cool the RAM itself?

Are you sure you need so much cooling just for the RAM, if its too hot then fine but it just sounds excessive imho.

I'm sorry but I don't see what affect the P180 has on this. Whether it fits will depend on your motherboard and the relative position of its cpu socket, RAM and top PCI slot.
In a typical situation I would think the 'drop' of the top slots would interfere with any fan on the 120. If you don't have a fan on there, it might just fit.

Nah, I haven't done any overclocking yet (the RAM in question hasn't even arrived). I'm talking about the OCZ Gold PC3200, which can take up to 3.5 V, and gets pretty hot at those voltages. I'll probably run them at 3.1 V, as they will still be covered by the OCZ warranty (3.0V +- 5%). Though I still want to prepare in case I do want to overclock more as well.
