Help, lower P180 drive cage stuck!

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Help, lower P180 drive cage stuck!

Post by krooton » Tue Sep 06, 2005 11:34 pm

:(

So spent all of last evening doing the tedious task of swapping out my old Socket-A setup for my new 3000+ Venice/MSI K8N Neo2/XP90 combo.

I also took out the drive cage to replace my 160G Barracuda that developed bad sectors (I hope my 5 year warranty covers this) with my new Barracuda 200G.

I'm having trouble getting XP to install, it always freezes in the last few minutes, but thats not whats got me so worked up.

For some odd reason, the lower drivecage will not slide out anymore.
As far as I can tell, its getting stuck/jammed/whatever at the top slidey bit.

I can pull it out about half an inch, then is I push on the lower half from the opposite side, it moves a little further, but the top bit stays jammed.

I tried various methods for about 30 mins trying to get it out, but had to give up when it got to 1am and work was looming.

Anyone have any similar issues or ideas on how to rectify this?

Thanks

Had the same problem--

Grab a hold of whatever drive(s) are in that cage and while you are pulling out the cage, pull your drive towards the PSU/back of the case.
