Any info on Silverstone TJ08?
Apparently they'll have a mATX case in their line-up. With dual 120mm fans
Anyone here having more info? It'll be a great surf-PC i hope.

Just got one a couple weeks ago... haven't finished the build yet (waiting on a new mobo and PSU) but I've been impressed by the finish, especially the front panel.
One thing to note, the placement of the hard drive cage makes it impossible to use a Ninja mounted with a fan... the Ninja alone will fit fine (though it gets a little close), and with the 120mm fans, passively cooling the build should be more than fine (venice 3000+, no OC).
I'll try to get pics up when the parts come in (hopefully tomorrow) and I can get things situated.
EDIT: I didn't know it at the time of ordering, but the TJ-08 uses a similar chassis to an Athenatech case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811190061) that can be had for $43. Fan grills and intakes seem a little more restrictive on the Athenatech... I'm still happy so far with the TJ-08 however.

whew they put a 'review' with most of the pics hacked from silverstone website....peterson wrote:A review
another review at Proclockers, small pics.... & though those Proclockers guys usually reviewed fans&coolers poorly, they did installed a system inside...
Right now I'm still considering between TJ08 & CM Centurion 540/541....
Tibors wrote:Silverstone cases are usually not really cheap (€100+ range). Then you look at the way the 3.5" blanking plates (don't) fit in the front bezel. I might pay €30,= for a case that looks like that.
Blanking plate not being dead center is painfully obvious on a light-coloured case like that in silver.. I really like the design on that case
I own highly praised, relatively expensive cases talked about on this forum that have blanking plates that fly to the moon if you even fart in the direction of the case Im not an agressive person, but i have been known to eat Antec blanking plates occasionally Ok i made up the last part...
My SilverStone TJ07s blanking plates fit perfectly Though i admit its not a perfect case either.
Judging from the pictures, a Scythe Mine may be a better choice with this case.stonyc wrote:One thing to note, the placement of the hard drive cage makes it impossible to use a Ninja mounted with a fan... the Ninja alone will fit fine (though it gets a little close), and with the 120mm fans, passively cooling the build should be more than fine (venice 3000+, no OC).
really curious about this case.
I was looking for a mATX case for the longest time, that would have 2x 120mm fans to cool my gaming needs. I finally gave up an got a Chenbro mid-size tower.
This case, coupled with that nice mATX board DFI just released looks like an awesome gaming combo.
someone write a decent review on this and compare with a mid size please!

Yep, but I ended up having an extra Ninja so I thought.. what the heck, see if it'll fit. Working on some cable management tonight (finally went and got my zip tie mounts), so I'll try to have some pics (with the Ninja) up later.winguy wrote:Judging from the pictures, a Scythe Mine may be a better choice with this case.
Posted pics and a small review in the general gallery..

Check the measurements, but I don't see a reason why one couldn't fit a fan/rad as intake there in the front.Owen1978 wrote:Im thinking of buying this case and going into water cooling, which i have not done before.
Do you think it would be possible to fit a water cooling setup into this case?
Im thinking of a 120mm Rad at the front intake.

it's a very slick looking case but definitely not a silent case. You'll hear the fron intake fan (I do). If you stop the intake fan your HDD will heat up quickly in such a small case.
Good: great look; dual 120mm fans; 4 front USB ports; solid construction; very quiet dual 120mm fans. (I remplace them with Nexus in front and a Scythe 1200rpm in the back.)
Bad: Silverstone went cheap, the fans dont have the rpm monitoring wire, they use 2-wire+4-pin-molex for power connection so they cannot be plugged to the MB's fan headers. NOT a tooless case, magnetic screwdriver is needed to install components.
Ugly: Using a large heatsink (I have the Scythe Mine) will cause cable management nightmare, angle HDD connectors will be needed. Even so, in my case, they touch the Mine. You wont be able to remove/install HDD from/into internal bay without removing the large HSF.
What Silverstone should have done is to make the case just ONE inch deeper. Just 1 inch will eliminate most cabling problems.
Noise wise: The fans are quiet. What bugs me right now is the hum from the Seagate 7200.9 HDD. Maybe I'm too close to the case, it's on my desk and 1' from me.
In general a very good case. I'd buy it again. But it's FAR from a perfect or silent case.
