Family relations between Antec cases

Post by Jasper » Wed Jun 06, 2007 8:41 am

So, I was hoping to collect information on how closely the various interesting-to-us Antec cases past and present are related and some relevant overview specs. Not intended as a collection of reviews, just as an overview for a pre-selection process. I've made a start here, but I need more information, especially on those cases I don't own. If you reply here I'll integrate the information you provide into this post. Especially pictures of the case feet are hard to find. Any cases I've missed out entirely and that are still interesting (I'm arbitrarily excluding the *really* special formfactors like the Minuet etc.).

Big midtower ATX 4-CD size:

Antec P180:
* silver finish
* triple-ply side panels & door
* separate HDD/PSU chamber
* soft white silicone HD mounts.

* 1x120x38mm Tricool lower chamber airflow
* no PSU
Antec P180B:
* Black P180
Antec P182:
* Gun metal black finish, also inside
* cooling setup & triple-ply panels as in P180
* better cable management options
* Watercooling passthroughs
* Large soft white silicone feet?
Antec P182SE:
* P182 with mirror finish left/right/front
* USB-powered snake light
* Large soft white silicone case feet

Antec SLK3700AMB
Antec SLK3700BQE

* 1x120 mm TriCool outtake
* 1x80mm fan mount point on left side with CPU duct
* Black front with door, matte black painted side panels
* Small black rubber case feet
Antec SLK3800:
* SLK3000 with included Smartpower 400 PSU
Antec NSK6000:
* Same size as the SLK3000, uses same side/rear panels
* Soft white silicone HD mounts, in what appear to be the same sleds as the P180
* 2x92 mm intake mount points
* 1x120mm Tricool fan outtake
* 1x80mm fan mount point on left side panel with CPU duct
* removes external 3.5" bays in exchange for wider HD spacing
* small black rubber case feet
Antec NSK6500:
* NSK6000 with included SU-430 PSU

Antec P150:
* Glossy white paintjob
* Soft white silicone HD mounts *or*
* HD suspension included stock
* 2x92 mm intake mount point
* 1x120mm Tricool outtake
* Sound damping material standard
* NeoHE 430 modular PSU included
Antec SOLO:
* Glossy black version of the P150
* No PSU

Midi-tower ATX 3-CD size:

Antec NSK4000:
* standard matte black paint
* Appears to be using the old small black rubber HD mounts?
* 1x80 mm intake mount point, does *not* blow over HDs.

This looks like a fun "little" list you have here. I don't think I'd consider the Antec Aria/NSK1300 to be that special, probably worth including here...it's basically another Microatx Desktop case. If you need more details I can give info/pictures of the Aria. I believe the only big difference for the NSK1300 is that it's made of steel instead of aluminum.

p160 - all aluminum, could be made quiet if quite components are used :p

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81600

it's not too bad, actually, i think there's one build with it in the gallery.

the ninehundred:

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15900

has large fans so could be possibly made quite but i really don't know if it's worth putting it on the list.

not many ppl look at antec server cases but check this out:

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=91540#

Atlas server case; built pretty much along the same lines as p150 and solo.

btw, anyone knows when NSK3400 would be available in the us?

The 900 looks quite noisy... Too many fans -> too much turbulence -> inefficient cooling?

can't say for sure. some ppl like it, some don't. probably depends on how airflow is arranged. 20cm fans could be a plus though, especially undervolted.

still, it's ugly :p

check out the 3rd and 4th pics, and associated blurbs.

It'd be a nice product if it weren't for the fact it looks so "untidy" at the front.

Right you are, assassin.

i'm not sure whether the panel behind the door is just dusty in that shot or what, but it doesn't look up to snuff. it'd be nice to see a shot of the door as well. i'm not too keen on them, but it might help this case.
