Name this case (I want to buy another!)

Post by Emyr » Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:35 am

I'm about to build a new PC, but want a similar or the same case as my old PC. I find most new cases are either very garish and ugly, or simply out of my price range; I'd rather buy a cheaper case and spend on a faster CPU or more RAM than spend £80 on a P180!

I didn't build the machine, and there are no markings to identify the manufacturer (as far as I can see).

To get the sides off, I have to take the top off first (slides back), then the sides lift upwards. The large block of green foam is not standard, and neither is the extra hole in the rear. I think the black pads, and white foam blocks might be. It has 5x 5.25" drivebays, and one 3.5" visible bay. It uses metal trays to carry narrower drives in the 5.25" cage.

Does anyone recognise this (admittedly old) case?

Is the PSU related to the case? Might give an additional hint.

This looks like modified GMC(not car mfg. but Korean case maker) Nobless case. Or copy of it which are altered a bit by different mfg. I have Black/Blue 1st gen of this case. This almost looks like between 1st gen and 2nd but it's not since I can see some hook up on top of front panel. also 1st gen had 2 80mm fan on back and 2nd gen had 120mm fan on back which it looks like just 1 80mm fan for this one.

Would this pic help?

There are semi-cut spaces on top of the bezel for front-mount style USB/Firewire/Stereo/Mic.

I've found their website at http://www.gmc.co.kr/

They don't have any current products based on mine, but their X-21 does look nice

Chances of finding a GMC supplier in the UK based on previous Noblesse SPCR forum threads? Slim to None :?

Some Jeantech cases are rebadged GMC, and PC World sell Jeantech cases.

*edit*
Jeantech Nobless JNN200. Doesn’t look like it’s available anymore.

No Jeantech X-21 though...

The GMC Trinity X-21 seems to have had quite a few good reviews, especially from a noise POV:

lol I was wrong. It's called Noblesse and they don't carry 1st gen. I didn't check english site but on Korean site, it's still there as Noblesse SE. Also they still use 2 80mm fan on back. Not sure about SE but 1st gen, you could mod it to accomodate 3 120mm fan which I have not done since I wanted to keep it more stock looking. 2 thing I liked about SE is that it has external USB and sound hook up which 1st gen didn't have and SE has HD selector which you can select HD you want by clicking on a 3rd button. You can live without it but would come in handy. it's http://www.gmc.co.kr/products/itemView. ... &itemID=57 As far as your case goes, yeah it's a copy of this(unless GMC copied from other company originally)

Looking at the interior design of the Noblesse SE, I'd say either my case is not a GMC, or the SE is underengineered compared with mine!

I sent an email to GMC's "German" department asking if there were any UK stockists for the X-21, or any shops in germany who would shit an X-21 to Wales... no reply yet. (I knew my A-Level in German would be worth having eventually!)

I dunno, the Germans are mighty hearty people, but that would have to be one massive bowel movement to get a case of that size all the way to Wales!

I did identify your case, but I edited my post late, so maybe you missed it. Your case is a Jeantech Noblesse JNN200. Doesn’t look like it’s produced anymore, but maybe Jeantech UK have one gathering dust somewhere: http://www.jeantech.com/contact.htm

Failing that, and you still need a decent cheap case, you can't do much worse than the Antec NSK6000 (£30)

Except that it isnt! The unmirrored bar on the front of the JNN200 rises about an inch above the top of the bezel, whilst mine only comes about 3 up above.

Mine also doesn't have "Side USB/Mic/Audio function", rather I have a flipdown cover at the base of the front bezel. The JNN200 may be a newer version of my case though.

I'll consider that Antec case; I'm going to buy all my internals before the case, so there'll be another 2 months of shopping around first. :)
