Sonata I and extreme height heatsinks, do they fit??

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Sonata I and extreme height heatsinks, do they fit??

Post by filete » Fri Jun 08, 2007 1:51 am

Hi!

I am looking for users or someone who knows if the Sonata (first version),
can have that large headsinks,
like Noctua NH-U12F or Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme.

I know this 2 headsinks have a height of around 16 cm,
and the Sonata measure is around 20,4 cm, but I really need to make
sure this will be ok.

By the way, is for a future quad-core system Q6600
Any help will be great!

Thanks!

those tower heatsinks will work. But the Sonata has crappy intake airflow anyway. I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea to have a hot quadcore processor in there.

Uh...
I know there´s a lot of people how the air on Sonata don´t
flow very well, but I´ve never had any problems and I only use
2 Nexus fans (backside & Hard-Disk mount).

But if Quad-Core gets too hot, maybe this other tower heatsink that
uses a 120mm fanduct connected to the backside fan and this way
runs passive, could work?

Its the Thermalright HR-01:
