OrigenAE S10V and X8

Post by crispyfish » Sat Jun 16, 2007 6:11 pm

Just thought I'd share with you guys a response I got from OrigenAE support yesterday...
Dear Sir,

We expect the S10V so start being manufactured in 4 weeks. Allowing for shipping to the US, this would mean that stock should be available by the middle of August.
Unfortunatly we do not have an ETA for the X8.
I'm still hoping for the Micro Fusion, but if it's not out by then, the S10V seems like a fine alternative... :)

Thanks for the info. I suppose you would have forwarded any word on pricing?

I'd not seen those photos before. So a real ATX PSU unlike the Micro Fusion ... but how does it vent out the case? There's no exhast holes in the lid directly above the fan?

Cooling as a whole looks a lot less thought out than the uFu; no vents above the video card positions, no separate zones, it looks as if there's a (single 80mm?) fan position by the CPU but it's not filled? The only cooling concession I can see is the HDD fan ...

Layout reminds me somewhat of the Ahanix 301/2. Anyone found a decent build log for them - everything seems to have been on htpcnews?

I've been looking hard at half height but am leaning towards the fusion black; available now, not too expensive, known to work well, think the height, closer to my reciever, may look better.

I was thinking the S10V was looking good, but then I just found a price for it on a UK website; £527.50 vs about £100 or less for the Fusion

I just wanted to add a bit of info that I heard about this case...
ATX PSU can be mounted either way (fan up taking air form the case or isolated taking air thru vents in the base panel)
four 60mm Low db (silent) fans - 2 in, 2 out.
And as for the price - I hear its gonna retail somewhere around the 200-225 pound mark. hope this helps

Too bad they come with tiny (60mm) fans and are outrageously priced. Otherwise I might consider buying one. They sure look nice.

Yeah, at that size, there's no reason not to use at least 80mm.

The price £527.50 is just a "estimated" price. Origen haven't set the price yet. If you look at the price for S14v and S16v it will be the same.

I have asked Origen for an "real estimated! price, but they haven't given me an answer yet.

The case looks very nice, but I have already ordered an Silverstone ML02 for my Gigabyte mATX motherboard GA-MA69GM-S2h.
