also, will the ninja mini fit in this case? if not what heatsink would you recommend

Its height is given as 4.5" but that's probably external and may include feet. Think no taller than 3.5" with fan (if you need one). Maybe even lower. Only things that come to mind quick are Zalman 7000, 7700 or 8700.

Yeah, I think the ninja mini just fit into an NSK2480 so I think it's a no-go in an NSK1480. I was thinking the Thermalright XP-120 would be a decent cooler in that case.

I also like the idea of a downdraft fan to help cool the RG780 Northbridge on the MB I was thinking of getting.

I e-mailed an Antec rep and he replied 65mm clearance for the heatsink. The Minja is 115mm.

At one time, Newegg sold this case but it seemed to have been deactivated. Anyone know what is going on? This seems like a pretty cool slim case, but there seems to be little info about it.

I'd much rather it be 6" high and 14" deep. What's the point of making things so thin you are constrained in what fans and heat sinks you can use yet still so deep as to be a big issue when trying to blend in with that thin modern TV (even big DLP tend to only be 14" deep)? I know a lot of the depth issues come with trying to accommodate the relatively bulky ÂµATX form factor. With those sexy HTPC-ready Intel G45 chipset mini-ITX boards showing up at CeBIT, maybe Antec, or anyone else, will have the incentive to finally come up with a killer mini-ITX case for a decent price.

65mm clearance doesn't seem like much given the height of the case, but that probably includes some clearance above.

I've been eying one of these myself for my HTPC. But yeah, it showed up in retail such as newegg and then suddenly was dropped. Makes me wonder if there wasn't some problem that they had to pull them? Hopefully it just means that they didn't expect the demand and they just sold out right away.

I too am disappointed by the depth of most cases. The only ones that aren't > 14" deep are really tiny mini-itx type cases with laptop CD drives. The cases and CD drives both tend to be on the expensive side there. I built a homemade case similar to an antec fusion. Unfortunately, I'm not all that great at making things look nice. But it turned out being about 12.5" deep.

I have to agree with you. One of the reasons why I did not go for a desktop case was the depth. I just checked the depth of the NSK1480 and the NSK2480, and they're basically the same.

I'd think they have more than 65mm. I have a minuet which probably uses the same sized power supply and i mesured about 90mm for the heatsink, lets say 80mm to be safe.

I could be wrong, but I'd guess they were referring to the clearance for the heatsink not including the fan and were providing an allowance for a regular downdraft 25mm fan.

Could be very wrong.

I'm going by the fact that it's 1 inch shorter than the NSK2480, which has just enough clearance for the 115mm high Ninja Mini. Subtracting that inch would leave the NSK1480 with 90mm of clearance.

Well, why would anyone want to have a top down heatsink fan in this case? It'll be sucking against the wall. There are two sidefans, i think i'd just use the full 90mm for the heatsink and let the sidefan pull. The Scythe Zipang is 85mm for just the heatsink, hope it'd fit.

Alright, tried the zipang in the minuet and if that's any indication, it doesn't fit, needs like ~5 or 6mm more to the case. I've seen that the nsk1480 is slightly taller than the minuet, but does that mean that it's internally taller? I'm just about to sell the zipang at a loss but would keep it if i could fit it into an nsk1480 later.

EDIT: the crossbar in the middle probably wont allow it, oh well

Most other shops are showing it as "out of stock"

I'm in the same boat. I was thinking about it when it was in stock but didn't buy it at the time. Now I'm kicking myself as it's gone. I've sent questions to Antec and a couple shops to see if anyone can give me any info on when it will be available again. So far the only response I got was from Antec's customer support who said to email [email protected]. I emailed customer support as comments wasn't replying. =(

I got a reply back from Provantage who also happens to have it for the lowest price. They said the best estimate/guess they have for getting stock is mid-June. I'm tempted to put my order in and hope for the best.

Those guys say they have some. I don't have any idea when more will be coming. We have been launching new products for a little while now and getting the supply chain filled with those it taking all our time.

You might just consider the NSK 2480. I like the idea of having the second drive bay so that you can put in a card reader. I'm a photographer, so that would be important to me. And full-height cards don't hurt your flexibility any.

Wish I had a definite answer for you on when you might see the 1480 again.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately with shipping from that place, I'd be looking at $150! Ouch. I've contemplated the NSK2480. But like the slimness of the NSK1480. I'm currently using a home-built case for my HTPC that is similar in dimensions to the 2480 but not as deep. And of course doesn't look as nice. It doesn't leave me much height with my stereo in there. A slim case like the 1480 would give me more room to play with.

My HTPC is just for HTPC uses. I've got my desktop and laptop for photos and other random stuff. Even my media is stored off on my server in another room. So all I need this case to do is hold the cpu/motherboard, blu-ray, and laptop hard drive. I don't need all the extra space of a bigger case. I found another slim case that doesn't look too bad. But I'm guessing the PSU that comes with it is crap and these slim cases are hard to swap out for better PSUs.

I would appreciate it if you could post back here if you hear of any news about the 1480. Thanks.

Valley Seek had these listed as in stock. I placed an order a couple days ago. Just got my shipping confirmation and tracking number. So it looks like I should have one next week. Came out to $122 shipped. Wu-hooo!

recieved this case two days ago to replace my Silverstone LSC11, this case is just great as HTPC. I exchanged the 3x tricool 80mm Antec with 3x Sharkoon silent eagle 1000.

The BE2350 AMD CPU is cooled by a Coolermaster Susorro, this is too noisy when it spins up during movies so i hooked that up with a zalman fanmate to control it, for now.

The Antec MT-350 PSU, is the only part that i can hear in my build now. It's not bad at all compared to the PSU in my old HTPC case (plain horrible). However, I think i will try and exhance the PSU fan once a nice guide is out on the net. I have no experience in this.

Great case, best buy ive done in forever. Its small, it looks good high WAF is undeniable

I had also ordered a 350 Micro fusion, but since i haerd from suppliers they wont be ready for sale until mid september, I will probaly cancel that one.

I got mine from Valley Seek. They currently state that they have 23 in stock. I got it in just under 1 week using standard shipping.

Thank you for the info BillyBuerger. Is the panaflo you swapped the fan in the psu with also a slim fan? can anyone recommend a nice alternate 80mm silent slim fan?

Was the fan itself connected to the PCB by a pin, or where the cabels soldered to the board. Ive got no experience in soldering, so im hoping for an easy fan swap

Its a shame though, that Antec didnt make this otherwise very cool case more silent out the box.

No, the Panaflo fan I put in the PSU was not a slim one. That's why it sticks out a little bit now. Luckily they left some space so it fits in the case still like that. So why they didn't just use a standard fan in the first place??? The fan wasn't soldered to the board. But it doesn't use a normal connector. I've seen similar connectors on other fans before. Generally PSU or specialty fans. And I was able to make the panaflo connector fit just by shaving a little bit of plastic off the sides. I would feel better if I swapped the connector for a standard fan one. But I didn't really have any spares around at the time.

BUT the power supply needs the fan swab, so i was wondering what kind of fan size did the power supply use and what size did you use?
