Suggestions to this fanless HTPC case?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Suggestions to this fanless HTPC case?

Post by hdplex » Sun Apr 12, 2009 12:01 pm

Hi,

I put together a prototype fanless HTPC case using PicoPSU and heatpine/FIN combo as cpu heatsink.
(Pardon for the low resolution pictures as this is a prototype)

There will be two kinds of faceplate. One for optical drive and the other for HDD streamer with VFD.

Both have racks to mount MCE IR/UIRT board internally. The power button (maybe LED?) will be on the top of the unit. There will be one eject button on the optical drive faceplate version and no button for the streamer w/VFD.
Initial testing using Speedfan for an Intel E8500/Gigabyte 9400, with CPU Burn-in running one hour and E8500 at 1.225v/9x showing.

If lower CPU voltage to 1.05v/7x with normal load,

There are still quite a few small details to be decided. Since the brick doesn't generate a lot of heat, it is possible to put the brick inside the case if you use mATX with no extra card.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
The dimension of this case is 60mm (exclude aluminum feet)x450mmx470mm(HxWxL)(2.4"x17.7"x18.5") . Internal height is 55mm.

It is for ATX/mATX MB and has one slot for horizontally installed card.

ETA to first production sample is May.

That looks pretty good. Why only cool the CPU passively and not the GPU and northbridge though? Especially with your suggestion of having an internal PSU things should overheat really quickly?

There will be a northbridge cooler for the final product.

Put the brick inside actually doesn't affect the temp that much.

These look sweet! :)

Will the smaller variants ship with a PSU? Maybe as an option?

We will offer PSU as option for all SKU at very good price.

I've been googling trying to find your site but I can only find hdplex.net and it appears the company went out of business? Can you clarify?

hdplex.net which is for network streamers is being closed down and only handle warranty issues.

For chassis, it is hd-plex.com

Are you able to fix the images in the first post? I'm curious to see the temperatures and how effective the heatpipes are.
