We discuss it in the review -- http://www.silentpcreview.com/antec-p183 . It's the top panel/vent itself resonating in harmony with the fan. No easy solution, but you can try soft suspension of the fan... better yet don't use a fan on the top panel vent.

This problem has been there since the first generation P180 silver. Amazing it hasn't been fixed or looked at 3 - 4 (P180, P180b, P182, P183?) revisions later. It's one of the few weaknesses in an otherwise solid case.

For my rig I ended up sticking with one soft mounted rear exhaust.

Removing top fan is easiest solution. One other is to use heavier bitumen matt to increase mass of the top and prevent vibration thus if you need to use top fan. P18x series works wonderfully without top fan aswell.

Well if the P182 is still going to stay reasonably cool without it, that seems like the easiest solution.

Thanks for the info.

Ya I don't get why Antec did that. The only thing I can think of would be to get some type of thin rubber or foam or something and put it between the fan and both the metal mount and the top of the case...might be a tight squeeze then...

If I remember right, the P182 is the same as the P180 with the 2 little tabs in the front, then 2 screw holes in the back.

Couple options:
Snap off the tabs, drill 2 holes in the top piece, use soft mounts. Works pretty good if you have good aim.
Not use top fan.
Dampen it somehow--I think it might have been cmthomson who taped a bunch of quarters to the top, but maybe someone else.

The P183 is the one that made things even worse, if I am remembering the different reviews correctly.

Never had a problem with my P182. The top fan is a Scythe S-Flex E (1200 RPM) that uses the original mounting scheme but with soft silicone studs instead of screws.

Silent from idle to full load, 600-1100 RPM, no vibrations.
