Anyone here have photos of their modified Sonata Elite

Post by boe » Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:32 pm

Hello,

I had someone give me their old sonata case because it kept killing hard drives due to the heat. I was curious if anyone here had pictures of their modified elite case?

Thanks

Hard drives are quite hardy, I doubt the drives died due to heat, maybe it was another issue. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Perhaps it is something else but I have a nearly identical system (same motherboard, memory etc) but with a different airflow for the hard drives and no issues. I've replaced 4 drives so far. Each dies after a week. I plug them into other systems and they can't be identified in Windows even though they are running Windows as well. Typcially you can just go to computer manager and scan for disks. 2 of the drives made VERY LOUD noise after about a week>

If new hard drives repeatedly die they are most likely being fed bad power.

My three hard drives idle at most 37C. They did get very hot when I tried to use a Swiffer cloth for a filter - reduced the airflow way too much. Removed the cloth, been getting great temperatures since.
