Wesena mini-ITX. Very nice looking case ...

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Wesena mini-ITX. Very nice looking case ...

Post by ist.martin » Wed Jan 05, 2011 5:01 pm

Anyone have experience with these Wesena cases:

(more pictures on this one):

They look really nice. Might be a perfect fit for a pico-based system with a 120W brick. I wonder if you can get a good CPU cooler in there and a HDD and run a decent powered i3-540 system?

Seems like a big NO on the decent-sized heat sink. If you want to use an optical drive and/or use the stock mounting frame, not even the Scythe Big Shuriken would fit.

Instant failure on the 'picoPSU'
Shame...

There's more discussion on the original avforums Wesena thread HERE.

I like the look of these cases, although the ITX7 is an Origen M10 lookalike, and the ITX2 casing appears to be based on the same aluminium extrusion as the Habey ITC cases... a nice design and let's hope we see more products using this.

I'm not convinced about the cooling on the Wesena cases. Why are the fans right next to the rear vent? The air will take the easiest path and by-pass the front of the case where the CPU and RAM are. You'll need a CPU fan just to move the air around the front of the case.

It would also have been nice to see some soft rubber mountings for the drives, and for the fans.

However, Wesena are participating in the thread at avforums so let's hope they take design feedback on board :)

What do you think about these designs?
The one on the left it is new design, testing market. No ODD.
On the right - with passive cooling - will be in the USA in the fall.

I really like those, particular the smallest one on the left in the photo with two cases. Is there room for an IR sensor? I am looking for a really small case for a mini-ITX mobo plus one SSD. I don't need an optical drive - this is just a playback client for media and online streaming from Netflix, etc.

Personally I would prefer these in black.

Can we buy these anywhere?

Zygmunt, do you have any more pics of these, including the internals?

There's another thread on the new Viako cases: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=540775#p540775.

Viako offer a range of cases with very similar designs, and they could be the OEM of the Wesena cases.

Tranquil PC are already offering one of these cases in the UK, HERE.

:)

Hi Guys.

Wesena IR receiver has been reprogrammed by us to eliminate all bugs. It means in Mode 1:

* Channel + is channel UP or PAGE up
* Channel – is channel DOWN or PAGE down
* Info brings Info when watching TV, recorded TV or movies including movies under TMT instead of Help in Windows.
* Asterisk/Dot is a dot, so you can choose HD channels (like 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 7.1 etc.) directly
* Fast forward pushes recorded TV program or movie 30 sec forward
* Back pushes recorded TV program or movie 10 sec back.

Triple tap IS already supported, but it is a little tricky but easy. Full information with pictures is here.

If you want to reprogram IR receiver, please contact me by e-mail, so I will send you bin file and program to change firmware in IR receiver.

Best Regards

Hi

The left one is not and will not be in production as a chassis.
The right one - FC8-OD - is arriving to the USA next month. (Together with FC5-OD.)

Best Regards

These cases are also available in Sweden (Europe?) under the brand Streacom.

I will use the FC8 for my upcoming HTPC build.

New models will be in the USA in three months; the same models but without optical drive.
