Probably any hardware store would have bungee cords (elastic, if I remember correctly) that are skinny enough to go in your HDD screw holes and strong enough to suspend it.

Half the fun with this kind of stuff is to play with it and find out for yourself.
But here's a simple tip: Not so loose that it fall out easily but not so tight than the HDD vibrations can be felt in the chassis. Anything in between is generally good.

I first tried the regular rubber black cords and they were too thick - elastic like for sewing was too thin - then i cut off the ends of the rounded cloth covered bungies and two were just right thought I had a heck of a time stretching and getting each end to knot up - but in the end it worked and really helped with vibrations and such - and I thouhgt perhaps the cloth covering would heat up some smell but had my had up to 48c at one point no odors or burning happened.

Be very careful because rubber bands, the brown ones can crumble and become brittle fairly quick with time n heat.

2 other sources I have found the thin elastic cord in Canada are
fabric (sewing) stores
outdoor stores as mountain climbing accessories (also used in tents, packs and more)
I am sure you must have similar stores

I bought rounded cloth covered bungies from Järnia, which cost me about SEK 10/US 1.20 per meter. In Järnia in Uppsala I asked them to cut 5 meters from a roll. There are probably more stores which sell these cords.
If you're suspending the drive in a 5,25" bay, it's easy. When I suspended a drive in a 3,5" rack I had to tip the drive on the long edge, which AFAIK doesn't affect the drive performance -- at least I didn't notice any significant performance loss.
Good luck and happy silencing!
