Perfect folding farm?

Post by Strand » Wed Mar 24, 2004 8:34 am

Hi! I read an articel in Linux Format (Issue 51) where they test an 4P Opteron. According to the test it does folding@home frame a minute!
Is there anyone folding on an AMD FX51 to compare the folding speed.

The server has 4*848Opteron and has 16GB of ram. If anyone thinks of buying one they cost £19k! :-(

Sounds like somebody at the magazine didn't know that Folding frame times vary with what protien you're working on. It's not a repeatable benchmark, and it doesn't lend itself to comparison to anything else.

PPW would be a more accurate basis of comparison.

The price would make it somewhat less than perfect from my point of view. ;)

I'm sure it folds down to about pocket size.
