I'm Back!

Post by randalee » Mon Sep 11, 2006 2:16 pm

I remember the good old days! When SPCR was in its infancy, and the Folding Team was going strong..

When we had battles back and forth with the Knights who Say Ni! and others -- I won't ever forget the fun and comraderie.... taunting each other on forums, etc.

Good times -- I fired up F@h on this PC -- joined back up with team 31574! I remember when I was deploying dozens of new P4 2.8 computers way back when -- I'd set up a dozen on a cart, and have them all run f@h for a burn in... :) How fun it was to watch my stats rocket upwards and help propel the team.

Good to see others are still around, and some have come back.

See you around! I plan to get more active here!

Welcome back! Maybe with a few more like yourself, we can overtake #19?!

It's interesting what got me "excited" about folding again. The fact that they announced support coming for folding on ATI GPUs. Makes perfect sense! And the speed you could achieve with a GPU -- probably amazing!

They are supposed to start the GPU folding thing towards the end of THIS month.

I wonder if it will have any effect on ATI sales? I know of one person who will be in the market for a new video card  8) .

Oh man, I just got rid of all my ATI cards and i'm running nvidia cards again. Besides, i'm not sure i want my PCs runing full load on the video cards 24/7. I would probably need discrete cards with fans running on them.

I guess i'll just have to keep adding machines to keep up. Just added 1 more. My farm is now:

X2 3800+ @ 1.125V w/6150 -- main rig
[email protected] @ 1.35V w/6100 -- work rig. I should overclock some. I don't pay for electricity on this one :)
2600+ @ 1.15V w/7300LE -- HTPC
3100+ @ 1.2V w/5200 -- Sage server/file server
and everyonce in awhile my 3500+ w/x850xt -- gaming rig

Posted my first couple work units in over a year. Feels good to be back and on the climb... The CLIMB is the most exciting part, is it not?
