:)

Will be adding dual 2600MPs and a 2400 mobile oc'ed to whatever it will do with a panaflo and slk900a. I expect those to be added the first week of May.

I wasn't planning on going dual, but I found a guy with a pretty good deal on an MSI K7D-L Master combo...

:x Why does F@H decide that it will hang and not do another frame just as I leave for work? :x 2 hours and I'd have 128 more points, but now it will do nothing for ~16 hours :x And its my Barton super-folder :x

I have ColdFlame breathing down my neck to get back the place I took last month, and D_Bailey racing up so fast I'll miss him. And my folders just cr@p out when I need them most. I have a 237 point Tinker trying to get returned to 171.64.122.143, which isn't up :x Whats more the same PC (my only P4) managed to get 1 point from 3 aborted WUs because Tinkers take a better overclock that Gromacs. Time to remove that -advmethod flag...

i just added another member to my folding farm: thor

he's a dual xeon 2.4Ghz at 2.8Ghz ... running 4 f@h clients

so everyone still in front of me ... you better watch out for that big iron :)

although, he's not really silent yet. The stock 60mm intel coolers scream at 5500rpms ... . But swifttech heatsinks are on the way and i'll use 80mm fans. Otherwise i would not dare to fold with this machine for SPCR .. it's supposed to be silent after all.

I sure am.
Just had a 48 hour internet outage though, so I have some folding to catch up.

Whew! You are one of our "rising stars" and it freaked me out when I saw you flat-line for two days. Thought maybe you had flown the coop. Thanks for letting us know! :D

VROOOOOM!!!

I'm getting exclusively Gromacs now so my temporary visit into 4k PPW territory is no more and I'm back to usual 2k PPW. Also I've got a meaty Tinker (239.0 pts) sitting in the queue and refusing to go up to the server :(

Of course when I finally got home, having let my Barton do nothing but have a hung F@H client for 15 hours I restarted it only to see it delete the 93% of a 128 point Tinker and start afresh. This makes me want to stop folding in frustration!

Man, that BLOWS!

I remember loosing my first two and maybe even three WU's. It took me well over a week to post my first points! Obviously I got over that little hurdle. 8)

Zooooom comes Douglas Bailey (who I think of as David, the famous photographer), he's passed ColdFlame already today and is imminantly going to pass me. Keep on folding man! :D

If this helps I can start folding for another team temporarily. TeamColdFlame :)

I've got 249.0 pt Tinkers on 3 of my machines and they are going to be busy for a while (read another 15 hours) so you have a chance to increase the lead. And then all those Tinkers will go in (hopefully) and will bring me 700+ pts (hopefully).

Edit: I've got this 249.0 pt monster on my 4th machine too. Weehaa. I'm generating well over 4k PPW. This is just insane. It is all because of how those WUs are weighted.

Dang, I almost missed it! Thanks mas! I am at 501 at the moment, at least according to EOC. Let's take a gander at SPCR's page at Stanford:

TRC-13 is #100

bkh is 236

mjrusso45 is 336

ARM Systems is 339

mas92264 is 414

wgragg is 429

Zhentar is 467

CharlieChan 482

/me is....

Drum roll please...

501

I've been TRICKED!

Zyzzyx is up to #17. Hip hip Hooray for Zyzzyx.

D_Bailey continues his climb toward the upper crust, now at #28

TrekNW has made #100! It has been a laborious climb for the trekster, who deserves credit for sticking to it. He will most certainly get bumped back into the low 100's by genetomcat, Knarf242, and 1911user, but just as slow and steady wins the race, he will be back.

shens is beginning to scare everyone within 100 places in the ranking. You have to go all the way up to Equiquay at #59 to find a higher 24-hour average. He is at #147, but shens overtake page at EOC shows only a handful of people on page 2 NOT on his overtake list in the next week or so, meaning he will be into the Top 100 in little more than a week, and possibly even LESS than a week!

He's an animal! So far the only one to be on my threat list since I started folding.

I hope that's something you have to get used to!

[Meaning I hope we get new folders putting up enough points to pass you and heck, even ME!]

David

Ps. BTW, just between you and me, I have a little inside knowledge that says shens is after my #10 spot. I won't give it up easily though, and by the time he catches me, I don't expect to BE at #10 anymore. :D

David, I'd be hard pressed to match your daily production even with some additions I'm going to make... let alone close that 100k gap you have worked your way up to! I think you and the top 15 can rest easy for a while....

To say I'm not aiming for the top 20 though, that's just kidding yourself... 8) :D

I am sneaking up on CharlieChan and Zhentar, but of course now that I have mentioned it, the cat is out of the bag, but if anyone knows me, I'd be well pleased if they would up their production enough to stay ahead of me. :D

CharlieChan will essentially maintain his #9 spot, as #8 Zhentar and I change positions. Weird but true.

In other Top 10 action, mas92264 is somehow managing to stay ahead of wgragg. wgragg trails by only 2300 points, but is overtaking at the snail's pace of 63 PPD at the moment. mas appears to have overcome his hardware gremlins. Image

bkh is closing in on 200K points. 6 more days and he should be there.

ARM Systems is going to pass mjrusso45 in ~2 days to take over the #4 spot.

I've turned 3 hd's into pieces of aluminum toast over the last few months and may have another that has died in the line of duty (3 of the total of 4 drives were retired 6 to 8 gig drives that were brought back to active duty status.)

On a more fun note, I got one of those Logitech wireless kybrd/mouse combos. The +/- $60 white/silver one. What's neat about it is that it displays a message on the monitor when you hit the caps lock key (among other info.) This is cool as I frequently do this accidentally whilst trying to hit the tab key. The new kybrd doesn't spell any better than the old one, however. :(

Hortalonus, you're no pussycat either. I knew I wouldn't be able to hold you off (and I haven't), but I've now press-ganged my poor HTPC into my team and if I ever set up Linux properly I might throw my ancient AMD K6-2 into the race as well. I don't think I'll catch up, but it would be nice to make it to your threat list!

I must say it was kind of exciting to see some red on my overtake. If it all stays the same then shens won't get me for another month or so. My average just hit 400 a day but the last few days have been over 600 each so we'll see where I top off at. I have a few older rigs I'm preping to join the team as well. And hey, the more people trying to get to the top of the team, the closer we'll be getting to the top of the teams list. Bring it on! :D

Glad to see you're back into competing. If you keep on getting these great points then I'm not going to be able to get back in front. Had a hot (for a UK spring) day yesterday - I had been out all day and came home to find a baking room and CPUs at well over 50 degrees, case temps over 40 etc. It means I really have to turn off folders to be able to sleep, so down goes my production.

Speaking about other teams, I noticed Gentoo Linux (who's OS I run on a few boxen) has a team where I could be a top producer if I put my effort into only them. I like to support all the places where I learn and/or get stuff free from. If I stop putting up so many points, its because I'm looking to help those guys as well as SPCR, because I doubt I can ever crack the SPCR top 20...

ARM Systems has taken over the #4 spot

bkh is closing in on 200K total points. 4 more days maybe?

D_Bailey and dasman are now the #7 and #8 folders for SPCR in terms of daily average. "The usual suspects" remain at #1 thru #6.

The new points system has accellerated overtakes. This is because the new higher points have "depreciated" the older points. Let's say everyone's points have exactly doubled, just to keep the math simple. If you were overtaking someone by 100 PPD under the old system, you are now overtaking them at a rate of 200 PPD, but their lead has not changed. 1000 points WAS a lead of 10 days, but is now worth only 5 days.

This is a good thing for the overtaker, a bad thing for the overtakee.

Just pointing this out, in case it wasn't already obvious to everyone. For SPCR as a team, it's a good thing, since we have no threats, only conquests.

David

Edit: As an example, our overtake date for KWSN is now just 18 days, and that number will shrink as our 24hr average continues to increase over the next couple of days. Taking the averages over the last 4 days, our overtake date is just 15 days.

It hit 30 centigrade here and I had to stop folding on all my PCs. Actually 2 of my PCs rebooted because of extensive heat.

So you've got a nice chance to overtake me. My production will either come to a complete halt of I will just have 1 PC folding or at most 2.

Really, did you have those machines overclocked? In the summer over here we get up to 40C on some really hot days and I've had a palomino 1700XP athlon in my family's computer running in excess of 70C at load based on an in socket temp probe without problems. My machine, a 2500+ has alo been fine in such conditions even though it's basically been quietened to the level where my sp1614N HD is the loudest thing in my machine.

Anyway it surprises me that the cooling in your systems is inadequate to handle 30C ambient temps since in my experience cpus are a lot more resistant to heat than some people would have you believe.

A few people are having MONSTER days today. With still one update remaining:

wgragg - 3209 points (previous high 2738)

tragus - 1448 (prev high 1110)

Cosine - 910 (24hr avg 439)

Dukla2000 - 515 (24hour avg 196)

WarpedPlatter - 527 (24hr avg 246)

DonP - 552 (24hr avg 288)

Mynci - 446 (24hr avg 151)

What's most interesting to me is, with the exception of wgragg, these are all "old guys", guys that have been around for a long time, folding away quietly, not making a big deal out of their folding, not giving me an "excuse" to mention their names here. :D

David

Ps. By "old guys" a mean "have been folding longer than me"
