Make a Wired Trackball Wireless

Post by Fat_bloater_dave » Tue Dec 26, 2006 3:26 pm

Hey just wondering if there is any way you can think of to mod a wired track ball to make it wireless? and if you can think of any articles that have done it with a mouse or anything else helpful that would be cool too.

Thanx.

Oh, sure. You'll just need two IC chips to transfer the signal as desired. They may have to be custom designed, but if they are, at least you'll know for sure what to connect where. It's presumably a small distance, so you won't really need a massive antenna. Then you need a power source for the trackball, preferably 5 V since that's what it gets from a USB or PS/2 port. If you're wise, you'll also power the transmitter in the trackball from said power source. Then all you need to do is some precision soldering and you're all set, except for the occasional latency and such.
