Russ Kinder's 2009 Appalachian Trail Thru-hike

The man you know as Rusty075 in the forums, who has been a forum mod, close supporter and sporadic editorial contributor at SPCR for years, will shortly be off to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail, which is 2,178 miles long. Last time he tried, Russ hobbled out midway with sprained/broken ankles after many weeks. He says he's better prepared this time. We can cheer him on from the comfort of our computer desks.

I will be keeping an online journal of my trip here: www.trailjournals.com. There is a Guest Book feature if you want to send me a note along the way. The plan is to post journal entries on a more-or-less daily basis once the hike gets started, although there will be a lag in the updates depending on the availability of cellphone signals. So don't worry if things are quiet on the journal for a few days at a time.
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy has some general background info on the trail if you're not familiar: http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c. ... b.4805401/
I will have access to my email throughout the hike, and would love to hear from people back at home.
EDIT: Fixed the link for ya Mike. -Russ
