x800XT with VGA silencer?

Post by akaidiot » Fri May 21, 2004 3:08 pm

I live in Sweden and I've started to play games all over again, my current GF4 ti4200 just isn't enough some times. And since the dollar is so cheap right now I'm thinking of buying my new videocard from the states. It's actually cheaper then the x800pro(even with shipping! ) bought here.

Of course I'm going to silence this monster and if needed underclock it a bit.. The Arctic VGA silencer is probably the best solution.. But does it 100% work with the x800XT? Anybody got a link confirming this? Something like this:

Well like this but with x800XT would be reassuring..

EDIT: Found out that the there is a HIS Excalibur X800XT ICEQII on their website, is that tempsensored or with high/low setting like Arctic VGA silencer?

What company are you planning on ordering from? The prices on these cards are absolutely insane in Denmark aswell, compared to the US stuff.

Compusa.com is my current plan.

I was considering www.directron.com also but:

"Do you ship to international addresses?

Yes, we do. However, we do NOT accept credit card payment from international addresses with the exception of Canadian ones. Payment including the order amount and shipping must be made in US dollars by cashier's check, money order, or direct wiring before shipping. Customers are responsible for any customs duties or tariffs.

Our web site does not calculate international shipping costs automatically. The shipping cost is often prohibitively high for international orders. You may e-mail us so that we can send you an estimate of the shipping cost for the items you are interested in"

Seams to to much of a hassle.. :?

Sapphire has also announced X800 cards with a similar cooler. The line is called "Toxic". They are supposedly very quiet...

Yeah, I've heard of it. The problem with that cooler is that I think it has a temp sensor, so you can't control the fan. But this is just what I've read in forums so it's not 100%..

hehe, well it will still be cheaper then the X800XT bought over here and if the 450$ code word works it will cost about what x800PRO costs here(porhaps a little more..), hoping for a positive mail-response on monday! 8)

I'm hoping to get it sent with USPS, they tend to slip through customs quite easily! FedEX and UPS etc. I think will be checked for sure(I think.. Don't know really.. :P )

Yes, they ship to europe and they do accept CC(Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Carte Blanche and Diners Club) in US why not from outside US?

The only place I've seen who has added the X800XT over here sells it for 725$!

meh?

You got a 450$ Voucher ? O_O Or is it a 50 $ off voucher :S

Anyways sounds like a nice place to shop for us scandinavians.

In denmark the rule of thumb is:

(Official Price in dollars) x 10 = Price in Danish Kroner = in this case 800 $

meh

I'm holding onto my wallet until PowerVR 5 arrives, from what I've heard they've got something interesting cooking.

Most likely You'd have to pay customs, and VAT.

Well, You could ask if someone here (who resides in US) would buy it, wrap it in a brown paper, write "gift" on top, and send it to You...

Cheers,

Jan

I've read that Revision 4 will work with the X800 Pro. Of course, revision 4 isn't available yet.

Anyone knows if the new VGA Silencer will be compatible with the 9x00 series of ATi Video cards?
