Are Leadtek cards quiet?

They make noise, too.

Are Leadtek cards quiet?

Post by Perfect Chaos » Wed Jun 23, 2004 3:09 pm

The Leadtek WinFast A360 TDH claims to be fairly quiet. (~28 dB)

Any real life experiences?

I am interested in this particular graphics card because Leadtek is known for excellent 2D and NVIDIA makes particularly stable drivers. These are important to me without sacrificing strong 3D for the occasional game. :-)

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

I have the (I think) 350 model, the one w/ 5900 XT GPU. The stock cooler is surprisingly quiet for being a VGA fan -- it whooshes, but doesn't whine. It looks like the same cooler which is used on the 360 model.

Pjotor,

I appreciate your help.

I didn't even see your card. There are just so many cards.

When you are in 2D mode does the fan still spin?

Thanks

My kid has the 360TD and I do not hear a thing while on her computer.
Only if I open the case do I hear the fan. Leaktek's fans are better in this version than in the old Ti4400 she had. Those were HORRIBLE.
I have to say that it is about the same volume as my Ati 9800 Pro

The one on my 5900 XT (same HS/F) was a bit whiny, but not bad at all (I am quite ticky about high pitched noise, even if faint). Just the whine that most any fan has; nothing terrible, and about as loud as a 80mm L1A @ 12v. Definitely silent by a typical user's ear, and not bad by mine--I just wanted to end up with a 5v'd L1A doing the job :). If I hadn't already ordered the ZM80C, I could have held out with it until the ZM80D came, no sweat. I was pretty impressed w/ how quiet it was.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was not even whiny on the 5700.

Yes it does, but slower than in 3D mode. When starting a 3D app (in my case Battlefield Vietnam/1942) I can hear it spin up. The noise doesn't bother me then, cause that's when I put my headphones on and enjoy the game.

Mine isn't. I have the Leadtek A340 (GF5900 non-ultra) and it has two small 40mm fans contained in an aluminum enclosure (to act as a duct). By far it's the noisiest component of my computer.

Hey Sledge,

The WinFast TwinTurbo-II Cooling System looks like a monster. What were they thinking?

They weren't :D

I bought my card before I got into silent computing. My next card will absolutely have an Arctic Cooling or Zalman cooler.
