9800xt + artic cooling 3 question

Post by johnjkr » Sat Dec 25, 2004 1:02 pm

Just got my new artic cooling 3 for my 9800xt, installed it with no problems, but it seems to have that clicking problem people have been talking about. Assuming it is related to the fan controller on the 9800xt itself, has anyone found a 3-pin (video card size) to 3-pin (motherboard size) converter?

Also, just installed my Coolmax Fanless 400W power supply, i'll be throwing up a review of it soon...no problems so far.

Thanks,

-John R.

No......and the reason I know is I asked this question too and got no responce....so after much debating I got the new zalman vf700 cooler and it is not only quieter than the artic cool and no clicking noise but it cools better too......

Is that Zalman even available yet? Does it cost some crazy amount of money?

You need to cut the wires and replace the VGA fan 3pin with a regular fan 3 pin. Does it matter all that much if the zalman cooler is relatively expensive for VGA cooler, replacing the cooler because the fan header won't fit would be wasteful anyway.

Cutting wires and such are not exactly my forte. I was hoping for a simple converter. Is there a diagram of which wires need to go where?

Many people here have done this, do a search, ie "silencer AND wires" with just this forum selected.
