Display GPU temps in games?

They make noise, too.

Display GPU temps in games?

Post by thetoad30 » Sun Jul 10, 2005 1:27 pm

How do you get your GPU temperature to display itself while gaming? I play Call of Duty a lot and also Doom3... and I have heard people saying that they always overlay their GPU temps in the games. Just curious if this is possible. I currently have ATI tool and an X700Pro.

Thank you.

I have an extra 15" LCD that I have setup as a second display, and I put my temperature displays on that screen.

I have no idea how people are overlaying their GPU temps unless they are playing a game in windowed mode.

With Motherboard Monitor as the data collection software, you could use MBMLog to record the values and review them later.

speedfan can log, too. just make sure the logging is active for everything you wanna monitor, then fire those games and 3dmarks :D

I do it with a a small 7" LCD that sits on top of the computer. Using a dual-display Radeon 9600, and MBM, I can read-out all the temps in real-time.

Alternately.....you could hook up a small external temp display, with the sensor mounted on the card. Cheapest solution...

Where can you get such an LCD? I have been looking for a decent one for a while.

Rivatuner, available at http://www.guru3d.com in the downloads section, has OSD (on screen display) options for gpu temp, ambient temp, gpu clock, memory clock, etc. :)

Mar...It's a Venturer #AVM670. I tried two others before I settled on this one. It is sharp and bright enough to read the MBM read-outs easily. You really can't read text with it though.

Walmart Automotive Dept......$90 a few months ago. The screen itself pivots independantly from the body, and makes it easier to adjust for the best viewing angle. The speakers aren't bad either. RCA video input....

ATITray will also do ingame OSD, with FPS, memory use, gpu temp, and plugins to pull data from speedfan.

Plus there's a lot more it can do, like increasing gpu speed (and fan speed, if supported) in 3d and decreasing in 2d automatically.

You need to run the rivatuner statistics server, it's the other icon in the start menu. Then right click it in the systray, setup, there's options for OSD on the bottom half of the dialog box. :)
