Passive 7-series Nvidia GPUs?

They make noise, too.

Passive 7-series Nvidia GPUs?

Post by mattthemuppet » Sun Jul 24, 2005 2:42 pm

sorry if this has been asked/ raised before (and that it's not a stupid question in the 1st place!) but.. is Nvidia going to bring out lower spec versions of the new 7-series or is the 7800GTX going to be a one and only? From what little I've read the 7800GTX seems to be more efficient, which at the mo' seems to equal more fps for the same power consumption, but if they release something like a 7200 for eg. (like the 6200 in the 6-series line up) would that still have good performance but offer a good chance and passive cooling/ v. low fan speeds?

Just idly thinking (as you do), as the games I'm playing at the moment really (and understandably) tie my FX5200 in knots :) and a new graphics card will be in order sometime in the next 6mths or so.

Cheers!
matt

They will almost certainly be releasing lower models.

But, within the next 6 months nvidia might be onto their next gen card. If you want a new card now then get it now ;) things move too fast in the pc world
