They make noise, too.

V1 vs. VF700Cu

Post by Krazy Kommando » Wed Sep 07, 2005 7:55 pm

there was another thread about this previously, but instead of bringing it back i decided to create a new one.
basically, ive got an MSI PCIE 6600gt (stock cooling) & AMD64 3200+ w/ 7700AlCu. ill be replacing other noise makers at the same time (such as northbridge).
ive read a few reviews about the VF700Cu and the V1 (i dont want a passive cooler), but im yet to see one actually compairing them both together.
so my question is, which do you think would be the best choise? note, that i would like to be able to use this cooler on another card as i might be upgrading in the future.
obviously, my main conserns are noise/performance. i dont mind if any of them take up an extra slot, and ive got plenty of space between the top of the gfx card and the CPU cooler (a good 5cm or so)

if i get the V1, would you guys recommend a change of fan? if so, it would prob just be easyer and save money to go with the VF700, as it should run very quiet on 5v and cool fine

-thanx

Out of the 2 i'd say Zalman

You said you don't want passive, do have a look at the schooner, cools my 9800 Pro just as well as my arctic cooler and lets me overclock better

tsk tsk. the schooner looks like overkill to me and the copper fins on the back let dust into my computer. I am using the VF700-cu and it performs superbly. I have an x800pro and it idles at 34 and never goes above 39 on load.
