Is there a difference between the VF700-Cu and the Fatal1ty?

They make noise, too.

Is there a difference between the VF700-Cu and the Fatal1ty?

I'm curious if there is a fan contoller or anything else besides the bling that seperates these models. My case is padded and solid so I would not see any leds or any other bling so it is all about performance. Is there anything that would make me get another model besides the vf700-Cu?

I'm not overclocking although I would be glad to do a bios upgrade if recommended. I'm getting an x800 pro agp card 100435712

Thanks

its basically just a "bling" and a name brand bragging situation.

i think zalman did say once that the powdercoat on the heatsink increases cooling performance, but its not by much, mabey 1c if that. its not worth the price tag if you dont want to see or hear it.

Thanks. I found out what little I know from SPCR - this is a great forum for me.

If anyone could clue me in on putting one of these on my new card I would appreciate the info. I hear talk about low speed and high speed. Does it come with something that auto detects the temperature or do you just say I'll set it for high all the time because I play games every week? I wouldn't want to take the cover off my PC or make a hole for a knob just for my video since I wouldn't want to worry I forgot to set it for high.

The Zalman I have for my CPU is very nice so I trust them for my video but I don't know anything about the variable speed.

Also if anyone knows if I should update the firmware on my 850 AGP Pro -100435712 card that would be very helpful although my goal is not to overclock it but to open up pipes if that is different/recommended.

Thanks

The Zalman VF700 comes with a power cable that has a molex connection on the input side and four fan connections on the other end. Two of the fan connections provide 5V, and the other two provide 12V. So, you will have to open the case to change the voltage if you use that power cable. However, you can just hook up the fan to a motherboard header and use software or BIOS to vary the speed with CPU usage/temps. This is how I have my system setup now.

You might be able to hook it up to the fan connector on your graphics card, but sometimes they have different style connectors. If you do connect it that way, and the graphics card supports variable voltage as a function of GPU temperatures, that would be best.

you can leave it at 5V all the time.....that's what I do.

I have my x800gt unlocked to 16 pipelines and the core clocked to 540. even at 5v the zalman still does a better job than the stock cooler.

i thought the Fatality series of the 7700Cu and VF700Cu used higher speed fans?

Yes, there's a difference in fan-speed, at least between the graphic coolers.
