Matrox Extio F1400

Post by Tibors » Wed Feb 22, 2006 10:08 pm

Matrox will soon have something new for people thinking of putting the PC on the other side of the wall: Matrox Extio F1400.

Put your PC up to 250 meters (820 feet) from your desk. No prices known yet, so it will probabably be very expensive. (Well I'm pretty sure the fiberoptic cable alone is.)

Too bad Matrox doesn't make a decent gaming GPU... :(

p.s. And for the record, the price will be around $2,500.00 (yes, I called and asked)

They never did and would have to fall on their heads to try and make one...

If you had to choose between this for your current system and the recently reviewed EndPCNoise system (same price), which one would you choose

This is a no brainer because:

1. You would still have to buy the computer for this solution to work. So it is actually more expensive.

2. Gaming is a no go with this solution.

3. Matrox Linux support for their current GPUs sucks. This is a show stopper for me and other Linux users.

4. This solution would not work for the larger wide screen displays at full resolution.

The EndPCNoise system does not have any of these problems.

No: see the part "for your current system" in the question above.
