The X1950Pro 512MB as shown in the link below

And the Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZV9 is probably the best quiet cooling option if you need this to be ultra quiet too.

Ok ,As fas as I know there isnt a 1950 PRO Passsive cooled model,(Although a Thermalright HR-03 augmented with a supplimental Nexus or S-Flex for summer would work)

If you can live with the graphics power of a 7600GT here ya go

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150210

There arent any passive 7800 GS OC models and besides the 7600 GT is just about equal.
I would think the XFX would be good enough for most games on med settings, but would really recommend going the 1950PRO/HR-03 route because it is MUCH more powerful.

im a socket 754 man...and my mother board is agp only..so i think i can have agp for at least until i get a new cpu overall..which shoiuld be years from now...2.4 ghz is definitly good enough.

Is this card: "XFX PVT73AUDE3" really quiet? I´ve been looking for a 7600GT based passivly coold card for some time now without success,, but then I came to think of fan control. Being in windows cant require too much efforts from the gfxcard,, and then simply use a "down-clock-gpu-and-mem" app binded to a icon.

So is there any fan control @ 7600GT based cards?

the X1950 Pro is by far the best card you can get for AGP. then you can slap an aerocase condor, or thermalright HR-03 on it.

both of those SHOULD be able to handle passive cooling. worst case scenario with the HR-03 is that you have to slap a 92mm quiet fan on it. if the condor doesn't work passive, then you're SOL... ramp up the case fans.

the accelero S series is going to be sold with the x1950 pro by powercolor soon. So, it can be passively cooled. I've heard stories of users cooling their x1900xt's passively with the HR-03, so it should be just fine on an x1950. I'm using a vf900 with a 900rpm fan and my x1950 gets up to 57C while folding. Considering I have no airflow in the upper chamber, I think this is a decent temperature. I will eventually get an HR-03 and try it passive, installing it around the card so it can get a little airflow from the cpu air cooler.

thx for your replies. To be really honest, I dont know what Im doing - some sort of consumer madness. The way things are now, almost 100% silent, I can play the game I play (cs 1.6),, and using vista would probably just slow down the speed I handle my computer environment right now. I guess it´s a desire to try out new stuff, and not on a basic level that´s connected to my needs. And that´s where thoughts have split my mind in twice.

Guess I´m heading over for some BIOS flashing, it´s after all a easy way to get some excitement and perhaps some performance gains ;)
