Radeon X1950PRO IceQ 3 Turbo temps?
I just bought one of these (256 meg version) and am wondering if my temps are normal.
Room temp: 75 °F
Idle temp GPU: 40 °C
Idle GPU environment temp: 35 °C (this also agrees with my NB case temp)
Load temp GPU: 60 °C
Thanks for the info all.

Hi, temps look fine to me. My X1950 pro has VF-900 on it and idles in high 40°s and load ~60°C. This is mostly due to the fan speed profile I set using ATITool, very low fan speed up to 60°C and higher above. "Higher" speed ~1000rpm so still quiet, left on low (estimate ~600rpm) temps climb above 70°C. GPU can take high temps, I believe 90+ is possible although personally I'd aim for lower.

I've been using ATITool a bit and found that my screen goes black when I tweak the settings. I don't have a flat panel; it's a CRT and I'm using that DSUB-->DVI adapter if that makes a difference.
BTW, what are you using that reads the fan RPMS? ATITool 0.26 just shows % power for the fan.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

Let us know your findings!graysky wrote:Cool, now I just wish I could overclock the thing wo/ the monitor going black.
I just received mine from NCIX, will be installing it tonight. I too need to use the DVI-VGA adapter even though I'm on an LCD (cheap Viewsonic 19").
As I understand, the card is already a overclocked a bit.
Hi, I'm unable to over clock my card either. There's something freaky about the RAM speed with mine. It's Sapphire Ultimate version and supposed to run 800MHz RAM but I think it's only running 700MHz and any attempt to increase it results in a crash pretty quickly. I did some Goggling and found supposedly you need a certain driver version to get the 800MHz RAM, also found a BIOS update on Sapphire's site but haven't managed to flash it yet.
I measured the fan speed by taking the tach. signal from the fan and connecting it to a motherboard header. Both the original fan and the replacement one are 3 pin with tach. signal.

I hvae the same concern with my HIS. According to the box, it's supposed to run the core at 640, but according to Catalyst, it is running at the stock speed.SebRad wrote: It's Sapphire Ultimate version and supposed to run 800MHz RAM but I think it's only running 700MHz and any attempt to increase it results in a crash pretty quickly.
What's the point of buying a turbo version if you still have to o/c it on your own? I first used the drivers that came with the card, then downloaded the latest from ATI, no difference.
Oh btw: WOW!!!!
Upgraded from a Radeon 9600SE (64mb passive card chosen for silence and price), the difference is incredible. Full details and AA run super smooth in 1280*1024 in NFS Carbon.
And it's actually kind of quiet!
