excellent, so the VF1000 comes with all the ram sinks required? or did you have to get a couple more? ive got an 8800GT on order and i was eyeing off the VF1000, but there doesnt seem to be too much info around on compatibility with the 8800GTultrachrome wrote:I use the ram sinks that came with the heatsink. The RHS88 part for the 8800 series doesn't work with the GT.sorenbro wrote:Ultrachrome, do you need the ram heatsinks like with the other 8800 cards, or is the vf1000 enough?

There's enough for the ram. If you want to treat the mosfets you'll need a few more.Krazy Kommando wrote: excellent, so the VF1000 comes with all the ram sinks required? or did you have to get a couple more? ive got an 8800GT on order and i was eyeing off the VF1000, but there doesnt seem to be too much info around on compatibility with the 8800GT

you think thats bad? in Australia most places are selling them for $400-$500! and this is when $1AUD = $0.90USD, its ridiculous. Ive got mine on order for $340, so mine isnt a bad price thoughjohnniecache7 wrote:I honestly wish people would not buy the Geforce 8800 GT until the price gouging ends this card is suppose be retailing for $200.00 US but stores are selling it at $300.00 CA. Even normally the cheapest places in Toronto to buy computer parts are gouging. It not such good deal anymore.
They pass off pre-overclocked ones for $300-390 USD as well, when you can do the same thing yourself. Only the gougers have them in stock. You could see newegg really jack the prices up as they started to sell these cards too. I've tried to order the 8800gt like 3 times now, no one has one in stock.

RE: Thermalright V2 on the 8800GT (512MB)
I read from HardwareCanucks that the 8800GT has the same mounting holes as the 8600 GTS / GT series.
They (HWC) also did a review of the Thermalright V2 and tested it on an eVGA 8600 GTS, so according to that information the V2 should be able to cool an 8800GT.
Passively, big no it aint that big of a cooler but with an 80mm fan surely.
Can any one absolutely confirm this with their own testimony?

Gigabyte 8800GT and AC Accelero S1. First I've tried stock cooling with FUR window from GPU Caps Viewer active for 4 minutes.
Silent (29% fan Duty cycle min and ~1600 RPM's) but hot like hell, so I need to do something: Accelero S1, AS5 and some Pentagram ramsinks.
OK. Now let's see what have I done.
Aha, much better now. 40°C drop fanless after 11 minutes of same FUR window.
But beware about fanless. I found an interesting post at XS about temps measured in different points of video card. Is hot like hell on the back of PCB on vMEM zone, so I strongly suggest to put a fan to blow on S1. Mine is Antec's P182 middle intake fan at ~700 RPM.

A guy on another forum is making them. I have a group buy going for them right now which has about 7 orders. There currently is not cap on the buy, however, he said he'll cap it soon. If you want to get in on the buy, just PM me your e-mail address. Price is $40 shipped and you'll probably receive the sinks late next week.
