Passive HD3650, video card for the masses!
For those of you who want a fast computer, but aren't heavy into gaming, this might just be perfect for you. Nice heatsink design, too. Unfortunately, it IS powercolor. Anyway, check it out for yourself.

Here's the one I was looking to get for my HTPC, however, I have an NSK-2480 and it appears that it will most likely not fit.

No it won't, the heatpipes stick up too high.yamahaSHO wrote:Here's the one I was looking to get for my HTPC, however, I have an NSK-2480 and it appears that it will most likely not fit.

I have the powercolor 3870 and the biggest problem is the permanent 100% fan speed regardless of temperature - something that other manufacturers cards don't appear to have problems with.
It's getting to the point that I'm casually considering flashing a different video bios to try and fix the problem... or replacing the cooling (less risky than vbios flashing).

I think you could probably fit the HIS card in an NSK2480. It uses the Zalman VNF100 and the heatpipes are clamped into a block. You should be able to bring the heatpipes down so they touch the top of the card and that should give you just enough clearance for the lid. This is assuming that the heatsink portion doesn't interfere with the motherboard on the back side of the card. I would like to use this heatsink with my HD3850, but I don't know if it is up to the task. If anyone has tried the combo. Please inform me of your results.
The heat pipes already hug the card and the vent louvers hang down into the case. I measured with my old card and I highly doubt it would fit without rubbing.sgtsmith wrote:I think you could probably fit the HIS card in an NSK2480. That's why you keep a ball-peen hammer around the house - to 'convince' the lid to fit.yamahaSHO wrote:The heat pipes already hug the card and the vent louvers hang down into the case. Another card (if you want to be a little less upscale) that looks to be a very good card for HTPC applications is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 8&Tpk=3470
