[Stress test for] GPU?
I used Everest to stresstest my CPU/memory/hd. But i didn't find any way to stresstest my GPU. Soon i will be reciveing my accelero S2 and i wanna stresstest my GPU before and after install to take note of temps. Anyone know a program i could use?
Thanks
Thanks

3DMark or even looped demos in games will do the real life trick.
If you have an nVidia 8800 card, the most stressing program is the smoke demo: box of smoke
Using the hardware monitor in RivaTuner (which will show you the temps of a few minutes back too) this demo reaches the highest temps by far. 3DMark has some down time as well (when loading a new test) which will let the GPU cool off a bit.

FUR test from GPU Caps Viewer.
Run it at your monitor resolution and max. MSAA and it will heat up your GPU like no tommorow.

It sure looks a lot nicer than atitool, but I found it doesn't load the card as much as atitool.mariosimas wrote:I use this one: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
I was testing a suspect X1950 Pro, that would repeatedly crashed after long sessions of test drive unlimited or CoD4. The same card would run rthdribl indefinitely, but could only run atitool for a number of seconds.
This is called coil whine, and it's a known problem, especially at higher frame rates. Turning vertical sync (VSync) on in the graphics card drivers usually helps a little, but probably won't make it go away completely.lm wrote:Atitool 0.26 with my Asus 8800GTS 512MB creates a loud ringing whine from my computer, wtf?
My computer is meoowing at me like this: "iiiiieoooooeiiiiieooooeiiiieooooo" from inside the case somewhere.
This when the hairy box on the atitool spins.
You can do that by using a higher resolution (i.e. full screen or close to it), and maxing out all effect options. This can be set permanently in rthdribl.ini.Gillian Seed wrote:It sure looks a lot nicer than atitool, but I found it doesn't load the card as much as atitool.mariosimas wrote:I use this one: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

IN case this interests anyone:
I installed ATI Tool to stress test a new ASUS HD4850. It worked fine for a day, then broke. It would start up in the tray, but would use 100% of one CPU core and would never load the actual control window.
I found after significant grief that exiting the Catalyst Control Center (the ATI logo next to the clock) solved the problem.
Hope this saves someone some trouble.
