They make noise, too.

Radeon HD 4650 low profile half height available?

Post by Blurider24 » Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:48 am

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for and can't seem to find the Radeon 4650 for a low profile half height case... At last check, there was a plan to make one, but I haven't found it yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me an indication of when we may start seeing them?? I'd consider a 4670 as well... but it (also) would have to be lo-pro.

Thank you!

I'd be interested in such a card if it exists (or is going to exist). I've only seen variants of the HD 4550 in low profile.

Anyone??? 150 views and 1 person shares my curiosity...

I did a search on my usual computer sites and I can't seem to find the original article that led me to think there would be low profile options of the 4650 available... so now I'm starting to wonder if I am losing my mind.

Can anyone confirm the insanity or cards??

Seen quite a few pics of low profile HD4350's but not HD4650. Sorry.

Finally found the freaking link to the half height 4650!

http://gpucafe.com/2008/08/more-details ... 4400-4600/

So, hopefully they will exist... just have to wait, or dispute the source...

Also came across this on AVS' forum:

Post 785: "A HD4650 low profile card will be released, it was already an engineering example and that had two display ports on it, look for Palti [Palit?] or Sapphire to do a card with a HDMI output on the bracket, around the end of this month."

I feel your pain.

I've been scouring the internet for information about low profile 4670s and 4650s. Ever since DFI launched their 790GX based mATX motherboard. The desperation for information has forced me to join forums and post my grief and despair...

I have a dream... Of a small computer... with the potential for crossfire so I've got an upgrade path... and it's soooo close now... Just need low profile 46xx card(s).

But I'll go 2 x 4550 soon if no-one can supply the goods. It's at least an alternative even though I've yet to see a review of 2 x 4550s in crossfire and whether that would enable some moderate gaming.

I'm still not able to find a low profile 4650 or 4670. Trying to help a friend out with their low profile dell, but the lack of modern parts from ATI is discouraging.

supposedly Powercolor will be releasing a low profile 4650 part in the USA during the second week of March, according to an email reply I received from the company. I hope that becomes reality.

Was just looking for something like this myself and came across this:

Whoops, won't let me post links because I'm a n00b. Please excuse the spaces:

"Real soon now" apparently.

Newegg has both Powercolor and Sapphire low profile 4650's available.

Watch out for noise on the LP versions. The Newegg reviews talk about noisy fans.
