Adobe Flash 10.1 prerelease (HD) & Youtube 1080P

Post by Greg F. » Wed Nov 18, 2009 6:54 am

Has anyone else been playing around with these? I watched the Ninja Assassin trailer with my Asus 3450 card and cpu pegged at 100% a number of times. CPU is an old Brisbane 4000x2 OC'd to 2.6. It has the 2000Mhz Hyper Transport. The 10.1 apparently does not work with the 3000 series cards. I tried it with the integrated Pure Video graphics on my Biostar TF8200 and it dropped the CPU usage in half. The graphics in this MB have always handled 1080p, but not streamed. It continues to have problems with a choppy 1080i, but that is OTA and is only because of the 2000Mhz Hyper Transport.
This Black Friday I must spring for a new CPU. Likely a Regor. I can't wait for the 45W dual core AMDs anymore. Or update my second PC to a G31, Nvidia 210 and Intel E3200.
Regards the 10.1 prerelease I have had no problems with colors or anything. I am really happy with it. It does not improve the video on Justin TV, but that is because of how that is put up. Occasionally it will stutter, but I attribute that to the 3meg connection that I have here.
Anyone else?

double damned, actually. Anandtech shows the poor performance with ATI at the moment. ATI is working on a driver fix.

Yeh, I read that. I should have said, "Is apparently never going to work with the 3000 series".

Unfortunately :(
My 3850 is quite sad, it doesn't want Adobe Labs to say it is an old vga, that's false.

I've tried it on my Jetway NC62K-LF (nVidia 8200) and while my CPU usage dropped a bit, the video quality is quite bad, it looks like it's using a lower number of colors - I see serious banding. Probably just a bug, I hope they fix it.
