Silent Video Card with Displayport
Any recommendations for a passive, low idle power, video card with displayport?
PowerColor SCS3 HD5750

looks like the most powerful fanless card you can buy. Unfortunately I cant find anywhere with it in stock yet here in the UK.
And there are some concerns over how low the idle power will be as someone else on here reported a problem with one of the other non-fanless models of PowerColor 5750.
Cheers,
Dutchie

The chip would always support displayport for the whole series (in fact more than one) but card manufacturers are free to outfit their cards with whatever outputs they want. So far all are using the same reference design so all have the 2xdvi/hdmi/dp outputs. Older chips supported DP as well in fact, but reference design (of all HD4xxx cards AFAIK) didn't include dp outputs and cards supporting it were rare. Same deal with nvidia cards - you can find some with dp outputs, but they are not common.whispercat wrote:Thanks. Is it the 5000 series cards that all feature displayport or do I have to look at the individual specs for each card in that series? Also, any NVidia based cards that are quiet and offer displayport?

Thanks. When a spec sheet says it "supports" displayport, does that mean it's merely capable of having it, or does it mean it actually has it?

Well in this example the section mentioning display port support is just copy & paste from chip capabilities, clearly the card itself does not have it - most ads indicate display outputs, and this does as well, without DP. Plus you can usually see it in the picture.whispercat wrote:Thanks.
