VGA coolers take too many slots

Hi there I wanted to use an SLI system with each card having an accelero S1 with 2 nexus fans. but that takes up 3 pci slots!! (according to my estimates)

That would basically cover my entire mother board, and not allow my to have any other cards

How do you guys have quiet cards and still have a motherboard?

Have you looked at the HR03 line (thermalright) ? they can be mounted either above or below the card, allowing you to sli.

No getting around the laws of physics. The computational power you need will generate waste heat, which must be managed.

Consider less powerful cards, or water-cooling, or reconsider your position on the tradeoff between power and silence.

I know from friend's of mine using SLI, it's not worth the hassle. No experience with crossfire but I can tell you it will add more heat to your case to manage.

From my own experience - SLI can be worth the trouble !
If you are using 2 high end cards and running high res 27 inch monitor .
Cooling is always an issue and even with high end cooling you will be trying to shift 500 + watts of heat out of a pair of GTX275 ( that is what I am using at present ) + 125 watts for the CPU + hard drives and extras .
It adds up to enough to heat a small room . If you wish to cool it quietly , It is going to have to be well planned and it is not going to be cheap . I have this dilemma right now as I am about to upgrade my video cards to a pair of gtx470 s and they run hotter than the existing GTX 275 s -
Point is you are going to have to make compromises !
If you are going to do high end SLI make sure you are prepared for the
consequences . unless you have a specific need it is more bother than it is
worth

Accelro S1 was/is made for passive operation. So thats why it uses that much slots.

have you already looked into Scythe's Musashi or Setsugen (also made by Scythe).

They take up 2 slots including the card itself so thats probably a good solution.
