They make noise, too.

HD 5750: Sapphire, XFX, Powercolor

Post by nwbdan » Sun Jul 25, 2010 9:20 am

Good (sunny) Sunday afternoon, everyone.
School's over and I'm getting back into gaming. I've been on the lookout for an affordable HD 5750 and have found these 3 models near where I live:

Sapphire Radeon HD5750 512MB GDDR5 PCI-E €109.65
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentatio ... 01&pid=289 -- the link is for the 1Gb version of the card, though

XFX Radeon HD5750 512MB DDR5 PCI-E €114.90
http://xfxforce.com/en-gb/products/grap ... /5750.aspx

PowerColor Radeon HD5750 512MB GDDR5 PCI-E €109.95
http://www.powercolor.com/pt/products_f ... cification

I listed them in my order of subjective preference. I was hoping to use the collective expertise of the people here to make a good choice between these models, as I've never been very good at choosing GPUs apparently.

1) Which of these would be the quietest at idle/load?
2) Which of these would I be able to use aftermarket cooling on?
3) Which of these allow for underclock and underVolt when on 2D?
4) Which is easiest/safer to configure using a BIOS editor?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
Cheers,
nwbdan

I've decided not to buy the Powercolor, as it's the only one without a DisplayPort, but what about the others?
Any pros and cons anybodywould like to point out?

Right now I'm stuck between the Sapphire HD 5750 @ €109, the cheapest option I can get or the Powercolor HD 5770 @ €126.
I would just like to know if one is louder than the other, worse built, or incompatible/more compatible with aftermarket cooling. If anyone has any experience with these...

Thanks in advance
