Quiet half length NVIDIA GPUs

They make noise, too.

Quiet half length NVIDIA GPUs

Post by hhhhhhhh » Tue Jun 02, 2015 4:20 am

I currently have an EVGA 650 GTX which is noisy and annoying so I'm looking to replace it. I have the following requirements:
  1. Single fan. I can't fit a long card (Node 304 + full size PSU)
  2. NVIDIA. I've heard nothing but bad things about ATi's Linux drivers
  3. Quiet when idle. Ideally the fan would stop spinning at idle, but I don't know of any single fan cards which do that
  4. Light gaming capability. http://i.imgur.com/eoHgiot.jpg and Heroes of Newerth
Thanks!

Have you considered changing the cooler on your existing card?

I have a dual fan Zotac 660 Ti with two fans, it's not longer then the Mini-Itx motherboard.

Replace the cooler instead of changing the whole card.

Here is one cooler: http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-mono-plus.html
It's usually cheaper than what that site says, In EU it's available for half the price. Make sure it fits.

If quiet is a priority i would use a PSU that allowed a full lenght GPU on the NODE304, as quest posted, the ASUS Graphics Cards STRIX-GTX750TI-OC-2GD5 is a very good option.

Another option would be to go with aftermarket cooler, for a low TDP card, something like ARCTIC Accelero S1 can work well.

If you want a small card, current gen.... could be a GTX960, from what i seen there are two (not sure if either its a quiet card).

I hadn't! I'll poke around and see what my options are.

I'm pretty sure it's a be quiet straight power 480W.

The interesting thing about that ASUS card is it doesn't need an external power connecter. The GPU power cable sticking out of the PSU is actually what's limiting the card length. If I can't find a suitable cooler, this looks like a solid option.
