Replacement of TIM on an MSI GT 1030 2GH LP OC
Owners of the MSI GT 1030 2GH LP OC... has anyone removed the stock HS, cleaned off the TIM and replaced it with something like Arctic Silver 5 or the like?
Re: Replacement of TIM on an MSI GT 1030 2GH LP OC
I own a msi gt1030 (passive) but i never have change they paste on it. I have change on other gpus like 780, 980, 980ti, and 1080.
It's recommended to use a none capacitive nor conductive, so as5 shouldn't be used, get arctic cooling mx4 or artic ceramique2, both are safer to use on a GPU.
Btw why do you want to change it?

Thanks for the info. I will see how the temps track for a week or so and see if it's worth removing the HS and replacing the TIM. Just wanted to see what others have to say/experiences.

I dont think its worth it, either way the 1030 is a low end gpu, while it can do some light gaming its not meant for it, its more a entry level gpu, as long as you have some airflow the gpu will be fine, no need for upgrading the paste nor i think you will gain much, in the past i have changed the paste more because i have upgraded to Accelero III/IV or MK26 or return them back to the original cooler, but i personally never change paste on the gpu unless i need to.graysky wrote:see if it's worth removing the HS and replacing the TIM.
