need help identifying noise. one thing after another sigh

Post by hugekebab » Wed Dec 15, 2004 7:49 pm

:(

so i thought it was my psu making the noise, it was so i changed it to a nexus an dbam tht noise is gone.

now however i hear this high pitched whinging noise. i thought it was my old papst cpu fan, just turned it off with speed fan however and what do you know, it made no difference to the whine.

so what making the high pitched noise.

well ive narrowed it down to two things.

my sapphire 9800pro ultimate edition (no fan)

or my two samsung drives with nidec motors.

now ive put the samsungs on their side to stop hot air collecting underneath the top drive-do u think this is causing the noise??

plz help this is driving me up the wall.

Do you still hear the noise when you disconnect the drives?

One thing leads to another, indeed. I silenced my computer, but soon noticed a faint buzzing
noise . Took me a few days to realize it was the transformer for my halogen table lamp.

This is the only thing I can suggest, just experiment with different things plugged in and not plugged in until the whine stops. You should be able to find the culprit quite quickly.
