ok,
so i've been looking around for some ram,
i wanted to get me some corsair pc3200 DDR ram, 2 x 500 MB
but i ended up buying me ONE Kingston PC3200 memory module
as far as i know, all 1 GB memory modules have a Cas latency of 3
how come they are not 2.5 or 2 ?
does this mean the ONE GB bars are slower than two 500 MB modules?
i just thought that if you go for one piece of DDR ram you might get better performance since its only one piece...
little confused here...
any comments are welcome,
thanks,
earworm
ps merry xmas
a 1 GB ddr ram module can only have CasLatency of 3 .. why?

I have a 1GB module from Kingston with a CAS latency of 2.5. For Kingston, you have to look for HyperX modules, mine is KHX3200/1G (1GB PC3200 CL2.5). Here's the datasheet of that RAM. So Kingston "HAVE" 1GB CL2.5 modules (but no CL2 modules except for 512MB or less).

Creating low latency memory with higher capacity is not as easy as creating low latency memory with lower capacity. It is like that the fastest cars are not the biggest ones.earworm wrote: does this mean the ONE GB bars are slower than two 500 MB modules?
[Edit:as ceating low -> as creating low]
