RAM Recommendations for A8N-SLI Premium
Comments/advice appreciated...
I need 2GB (2 x 1GB matched pair) of DDR memory for my main project. No plans to overclock, but would like good latency timings - so good PC3200 will be fine. (Don't understand memory tech too well - will PC4000 work OK if forced at 3200 )
The only problem is, it's not easy to find! 2 x 512MB is no problem - but I don't want to use 4 x 512MB, due to the well known probs on NF4 mobos - including not all capacity seen and frequency dropping to 333MHz.
I'm not interested in the budget non-matched pairs, or the really high-end stuff with LED displays. Must not be of the particularly high variety either - probs with clearance under XP-120 heatsink fins.
All constructive comments gratefully received.

dont bother getting that, its PC4000, way more than you will need plus about $150 than you need to spend (plus its not even low latency)
This OCZ Memory is perfect
good quality, low latency, much cheaper.
It won't be too tall to fit in your mobo.
plus its got a lifetime warranty so if anything happens to it you're covered.

Yeah the OCZ does seem a better value. However, the Venice platform supports DDR500 (PC4000) without overclocking. There is an option for it on all Socket 939 boards. On dual-core CPUs the memory speed is very noticeable, but not on single cores. If you are running dualcore you might want to consider getting the fastest memory you can afford because the difference is very significant. Well the OCZ Platinum that was linked isn't the Revision 2 version, so it probably won't clock very highly.
