putting pc inside desk

im wondering if this is a good thing to put the PC inside the desk cabinet. will it get too hot for the components?

if its one of those really tight cabinets designed for mid-tower PCs, then yes - it will get too hot. i had overheating issues with a p4 1.2 in a cabinet, so theres no doubt anything modern would have similar problems

can you a make a exit path for the exhaust air? If yes, that would only leave the radiating heat for u to deal with.

if you mean taking the components out of the case and building them into a desk, then its been done. cant remember who exactly did it but its on this forum somewhere with extensive pics. he drilled exhaust holes in the back of his desk to keep it cool. even had a cutout in the front of the drawer for the optical drive.

if you mean just taking a pc inside a case and then putting it inside a cabinet in a desk, then you just need to make sure you have adequit ventalation and it should work fine.

Correspondingly, I went into engineering, where they promptly sprung "Professional Development for Engineering Students" on me. Argh @ English courses in disguise.

wow yeah i dont think im ready to attempt a project like that yet. i meant putting the case inside a cabinet. when you say make an air duct, do you mean i should run tubing from the exhaust of the case out the back of the desk?

yes...it can be fancy or simple (it won't be seen)as long as the warm air exits the enclosed space.
