conroe E6400 rig - need some advice
Building a new rig mainly for gaming and not really planning on overclocking....
i've decided to go for the E6400 and i need some advice on other parts....
CPU: Core 2 duo E6400
Mobo : Intel DP965 TCK
GPU: X1900XT
CASE : Coolermaster centurion 5 or maybe antec sonata2
hdd: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
i have figured that this would be some of the parts that i want in the system however i have read some reviews in regards to the ram issues with the mobo (something to do with it requiring 1.8V) ....... can anyone suggest some PC4200 2x1gig ram that would be compatible with the mobo for me? also i'm unsure about the case selection as i've read good reviews for both cases....kinda leaning towards the sonata2 side as it comes with a psu which saves me finking of what psu to get...
any advice would be great thanks in advance

Hello,
here's the official specification of the Intel Board:
http://developer.intel.com/design/mothe ... lt_mem.htm
Newegg lists the voltages the memory requires.
one of these should be fine:

you probably can ignore the statement about gold-plated contacts1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts

If he doesnt want minimal noise then why would he be on the SPCR forums.Howard wrote:It's not like he said he wants minimal noise or that he's using a small-capacity PSU (Sonata II PSU is 450W).jaganath wrote:It also uses about 40W more than the 7900GT.The X1900XT is a faster card than the 7900GT.
Well SPCR is a broad church, the spectrum ranges from people going for all-out silence (ie me ) to people who are simply looking to make noisy gaming rigs sound less like a jet engine at 2ft. I figure anything that reduces the unnecessary noise pollution from domestic PC's has to be a good thing. If he doesnt want minimal noise then why would he be on the SPCR forums.

I'm off the spectrum, (the silent side).
