Hi all
Quick question. Want to change Winchester 3000+ to Opteron 175. Got the latest BIOS on my mobo.
See picture of my system
The CPU duct in the side of the Antec 3000B currently helps me to cool the CPU passively with the XP-120. I'm guessing XP-120 may not be good enough for the Opteron, but want to continue to cool the new CPU using rear case fan only, if possible.
Is the Ninja the best choice for this, and is there any choice which would not require me to access underside of (i.e. remove) the mobo (I think the Ninja will require this)?
passive XP-120 for Opteron 175 ?

I was assuming I would have to create some sort of cardboard duct to the rear fan, yes. [Is cardboard safe in a PC? Is it a fire risk? ]
But could I (i) remove the XP-120; and (ii) fit the HR-01 without removing the mobo (A8N-SLi)?
And given my low airflow / passive intent, is the HR-01 a better choice than the Ninja? How should I choose between the two? (NB: Ninja is easier to buy for me, as the Opteron-selling site also stocks it)
Thanks for any comments

SPCR has reviewed both the HR-01 and the Ninja, both are good. I have a ninja and a 500rpm nexus fan on my 165, though its running at 2600mHz undervolted to 1.3V.
The ninja mounts on the stock frame, and its very easy to install, it just requires strong thumbs. If you have the stock frame on you will not have to remove the mobo. If the XP120 mount has the studs like the stock fram does, it should work.
Cardboard is not a fire risk in a computer, it requires 300c+ temps to ignite and at those temps you have bigger problems than the cardboard...
