Need psu advice for P182

Post by Jade767 » Sat Jun 09, 2007 2:08 pm

Hello,

I'm currently looking for a new case and I think the P182 really fits me. Fell in love with it after reading the review from SPCR :P

Now the only thing that bothers me is the PSU. Reviewers say that not all PSU fit well and you need a horizontal airflow PSU to get max effect. Now can you advice me a PSU?

I'm currently waiting for the pricedrop from nvidia & intel so my system will have:

-Q6600
-8800GTS320
-4gig RAM (for Vista x64)
-Some mobo ready for SLI
-2 harddrives (1 IDE & 1 S-ATA)
-1 floppy
-1 DVD writer
-1 DVD reader
-Wireless receiver

now I would like to put all that into my P182 and make it SLI ready (so I can add a 8800GTS later).

Any suggestions on what PSU to get? How many W do I need?

Thx in advance

I guess your GTS card(s) will make some noise and quite possibly at least your IDE hard disk. So Corsair or Seasonic PSU (=low noise PSU with fan) will probably be less noisy and a good choice.

Ok thx for the answer, think I'll go with the seasonic 600/700

are the 8800GTS that loud? or should I put another cooler on it?

I had big(!) problems fitting a tagan 480W in the top psu bay in my Stacker, had to put it in the bottom. Will it fit in the P182?

I'm asking because I'm buying a p182 to replace my current ATX case from ~1997, and I also want to replace the crappy Hiper 580W PSU I have now...
