Should I get an Antec p180?

Post by jl2k2 » Thu Aug 06, 2009 5:20 pm

Hey guys,

I have recently come across a chance to get a original p180(without the holes on the mobo tray) for $80AU and I am tempted, mainly because new p183 is $240AU and second hand p182 is not avalible in my state, (Brisbane) a p182 + shipping will bring the price close to $200AU.

My question is, is it worth it getting the original p180?

I realize that the main difference between original p180 and p182/183 is the motherboard holes, and other little bits and pieces. I also don't have much amount of cables, so a few duck tapes should handle it well enough.

Anyway, specs:

Gigabyte mother board.
E4300 @ 3.0GHz
4G Ram
1 X W.D Green Cavier 750G
1X SATA DVD
Seasonic M12II 500W
Gigabyte 9800GTX+ w/ 1 X 6-pin
Noctua C-12P @900rpm
Accelero S1 R2 + Noctua S12B @600rpm
1 X Noctua S12B @600rpm
1 X Noctua P12 @900rpm
Cooler Master Elite 335 w/grills cut

Thanks guys

With that price definately yes. P180 is still extremely good case. Just bit duct tape and zip ties and you get your case very clean and tidy.

The P180 is a great case and, as long as it is in good condition you can't really go wrong. I have far too many cables in my P180 but I still managed to get it tidy with a bit of clever routing and a bag of zip ties.

I got it, down from $80AU to $60AU because the seller realized some scratches on the side pannel, no big deal for me.

I am however a little curious about how to configure the fans, should I take out lower chamber fan and have just HDD and PSU in there or I should keep the lower chamber fan?

Or I should install the HDD in the upper chamber?
