CM Sileo 500 - antivibration rubber cushions adequate??

Post by kuzzia » Fri Jul 02, 2010 5:00 am

considering to buy the popular WD Caviar Blue 640 GB AAKS after I shall buy The CM Sileo 500 soon. Will the rubber mounting cushions included dampen the vibrations from the drive, adequately?

Thanks in advance.

I have no personal experience with this case so I can't really answer your question, but here's a quote from the SPCR review:
The hard drive mounting system, while not bad, isn't enough to dampen high vibration drives like the WD Black. Placing our WD Black drive on the foam floor of the case rather than the drive cage resulted in a 2~3 dBA reduction in our test system's overall noise level.

I have used both in a clients build. That system is pretty darn quiet with the cpu fan not connected. I havent felt much resonance.

Franklying speaking, no. The dampening cushion is too thin, too weak for serious HDD suspension. Just use elastic strings to suspend HDD and you'll get the job done.
