Amd 5670 or 5770

Hi guys,
I'm wondering witch one chose for my next build with low airflow ?
Antec solo + Nexus @5v
Intel i5 2500k + Thermalright HR-02 fanless
Crucial C300
seasonic x-400
5670/5770 + Accelero s1 rev.2
Dell U2311H
Sapphire 5670 512 Mo HDMI Dvi Display port 80€ / $104 13W/51W
Sapphire 5770-1024 Mo HDMI 2Dvi Display port 100€ / $130 18W 78W
I'm a casual gamer, the graphic card will be mainly use in idlle, the little price difference made me consider the 5770 but i'm afraid of the load temp.

I just bought a HD5770 for a Christmas present computer. More precisely it's a XFX HD5770 single slot version.
Pleasantly surprised about it. Stays at 70-73C under 60% fan speed which isn't really loud at all in furmark. (though rest of computer isn't really 'quiet')
I think you should go for the HD5770 for better performance and I don't think the heat & noise will be a issue if you have the right cooling. I currently haven't been following GPU coolers so can't say how well the Accelero cools or how that combo would work. The HD5770 isn't really a heat monster in either case.

People are putting Acelero S1 coolers on cards that draw well over 100W so I wouldn't worry about 78W. Though I have to wonder about that spec.
The numbers below are from a Wikipedia article that I pulled from about 3 months ago.

Looking at
http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.ph ... c=264&st=0 I'm assuming you are pulling from the 78W from there or one of the source articles they pulled from.
No matter how you look at it the 5770 isn't out of reach for Accelero S1. Worst case if you got serious about gaming you'd want to add a fan to it at 5v but if you aren't gaming you won't even need that.

Well I run a Saphire 5670-VGA model (has a vga connection) with 512 and it's fanless. Main advantage of the 5670 is the lack of need for a video card power connector (slot powered only) which means it's max draw is 75watts (PCIe spec limit).
The only reason to go with the 5770 is Gaming and that's if you play Crysis/C2D and such. Otherwise the 5670 handles Supreme Commander at High (1280x1024) with everything maxed

Recently built a PC for a friend using a 5770 Silent Cell. The case has very low airflow and is completely stock, although I had to remove the drive cage to fit the video card. Temperatures running Furmark peaked around 84C at 25C ambient, which I think is quite impressive.
