I was wondering if anybody did any power consumption test with a couple of classic 2x2GB DDR3 1333/1600mhz 1.5v sticks, and a couple of "green" 1.35v ones. Was the power draw difference significant?
I'd bet no more than 2 or 3W, but that's just an impression.

Re: "Eco" low voltage DDR3 ram: is it worth it?
Micron provide power calculators (as Excel spreadsheets) http://www.micron.com/support/dram/power-calc which claim to show the system power differences between DDR3 1.5v and DDR3L 1.35v memory. For 4Gb memory, DDR3 power consumption is 535 mW and DDR3L 438 mW. That's 97 mW less for the 1.35v ram, a reduction of around 18% which is broadly in line with the claims being made for lower power DDR3. It doesn't look to be too significant for a desktop machine, but where legions of servers are involved I guess it all adds up.

Thanks a lot.
